The Turin award is only the latest in a series of festival accolades garnered by the film, including at Cannes (where it won the Cicae Art and Essai cinema award), Toronto and Athens, as well as the London Film Festival where it screened in the Film on the Square section (see article), ahead of the film's UK release in Spring 2008 (it was released in Ireland on October 5 and will hit French screens in January).

Special Jury Prize went to Woo Ming Jin's The Elephant and the Sea (Malaysian/Dutch co-production, 2007), while the prizes for Best Actress and Best Actor were awarded, respectively, to Joan Chen for Tony Ayres' The Home Song Stories (Australia, 2007) and Kim Kang-Woo for Park Heung-sik's The Railroad (South Korea 2006).

The Cipputi Award for Best Film on the subject of the world of work went to Cristina Comencini for In fabbrica ("In The Factory") (Italy, 2007).

The award for Best Italian Documentary went to Fausta Quattrini's La nacion mapuce ("The Mapuche People") (Swiss/Italian/Argentine co-production, 2007).
