The EFM (European Film Market), which will be held in Berlin during the International Film Festival (February 7-17, 2008), is the first industry gathering of the year and after its impressive expansion over the past two years it now ranks among the three biggest international markets.

At its 2008 edition, director Beki Probst says she hopes to "strengthen this position (...) and optimise the services we offer to the international industry".

The historic Martin-Gropius-Bau building and the Exhibitor Offices at 11 Potsdamer Platz are already booked out. Organisers are expecting 178 companies from 47 different countries and have reported an increase in the number of exhibitors compared to the previous edition.

As well as the usual services and events, the EFM is organising a series of debates, the "EFM Industry Debates" (February 8-10), focusing on the issue of distribution and sales in the digital era.

For the second year running, the Marriott Hotel will also host three "Video Studios".

Moreover, The European Film Market has new partners, such as the Sundance Film Festival, who will screen a selection of titles in the event "Straight from Sundance". A forum will also be dedicated to "Latin American Works-in-Progress".
