Best of Youth: From Brussels to New York
Best of Youth – a selection of 20 debut films by young Italian directors made from 2000 to today, and promoted by Filmitalia – continues its whistle-stop tour in 2008 in New York (BAM, April), Los Angeles (May), Berlin (Cinema Arsenal, March 2-31), Amsterdam (Filmuseum, April), Stockholm, Singapore, Montevideo (26° Festival Internacional del Uruguay, March 15-30) and the Ticino Canton (Cineclub LuganoCinema93, September).
Many of the filmmakers showcased in the travelling series organised in collaboration with the Ministry of the Exterior have achieved acclaim at home and abroad, including Paolo Sorrentino, Vincenzo Marra, Saverio Costanzo, Alessandro Angelini and Alessandro Piva.
After its inauguration in Brussels on November 14, as part of Europalia (whose screenings will continue at the Italian Institute of Culture through January 30), from November 20-28 Best of Youth brought 12 titles of the selection to the first Semana del Cine Italiano in Buenos Aires (a special project of the General Direction for Cinema of the Ministry of Culture).
