Italia Doc helps to discover country

by

Pietro Marcello’s documentary Il passaggio della linea – which was produced by Indigo Film and selected at this year’s Venice Film Festival, where it won one of only two prizes awarded in its category – opened the third edition of the documentary film series Italia Doc, held at Rome’s Casa del Cinema.

Titles to be screened through the end of March include Talsi - Confini d'Europa # 4 by Corso Salani; Massimo D’Anolfi and Martina Parenti’s I promessi sposi; Merica by Federico Ferrone, Michele Manzolini and Francesco Ragazzi; L’esame di Xhodi by Gianluca De Serio and Massimiliano De Serio; Così come sono - Wie Ich Bin by Ingrid Demetz and Caroline Leitner; and Felice D’Agostino and Arturo Lavorato’s Noi dobbiamo deciderci. "Today, most of the Italian film industry is aware that the documentary film sector has increasingly become the place to discover many realities about our country,” said series organiser Maurizio Di Rienzo. "But the creative-production undertakings will not be eternal if they are not supported by adequate investments and distribution initiatives, both commercially as well on the arthouse and television circuit."
