Harry Potter tops 2007 charts

was the top earner in the UK and Ireland for 2007. The film took a whopping £49,420,484, putting it £7m clear of the second placed Pirates of the Caribbean threequel which weighed in at over £42m.

Hollywood continued its traditional sway over British audiences, occupying slots two through eight. Shrek the Third placed third with £38.6m, The Simpsons Movie fourth with £38.5m, Spider-Man 3 fifth with £33.5m, Ratatouille sixth with £24.7m, The Bourne Ultimatum, helmed by British director Paul Greengrass, seventh with £23.7m and Transformers eighth with £22.8m.
