DoP Edward Klosinski dies
Renowned Polish director of photography Edward Klosinski died on Saturday, January 5, at the age of 65.
Klosinski lensed over 60 features, including the greatest films by Andrzej Wajda, Krzysztof Kieslowski, Krzysztof Zanussi and Feliks Falk.
Klosinski devoted the rest of his time to the theatre. For several years, he had been working for televised theatre and also co-founded the Polonia Theatre in Warsaw, along with his actress wife Krystyna Janda.
In the history of Polish cinema, his name is associated with several major films: Wajda’s The Promised Land (1975, Man of Marble (1977) and Man of Iron (1981); Top Dog by Falk (1978); and Kieslowski’s Decalogue: Two (1988) and Three Colours: White (1994).
Klosinski’s death is not the only recent loss for Polish cinema. The funeral is being held today for director Jerzy Kawalerowicz (Pharaoh, Mother Joan of the Angels, Night Train and Quo Vadis), who died on December 27, 2007.
