Lozinski one step closer to the Oscar
Marcel Lozinski’s latest film, If It Happens, has been shortlisted for an Oscar, in the Best Documentary Short Subject category. From the eight hopefuls on the list, members of the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences must now select between three and five final nominees.
If It Happens centres on Tomek, the director’s 18 year-old son, who returns to the park where, as a child, he used to ask old people about life’s fundamental questions: the meaning of life, love and death. This part of the film was shot in 1994, under the title Everything Can Happen.
This time round, Tomek doesn’t meet anyone but, to his surprise, he rediscovers his childhood self.
The film is produced by Studio Filmowe Kalejdoskop and TVP, with financial support from the PISF (Polish Film Institute).
Lozinski previously received an Oscar nomination in 1993, in the same category, for his film 89mm From Europe.
