The Danish Film Institute has awarded a total of DKK18.7m in production support to Lille Soldat (“Little Soldier”) by Annette K. Olesen, Fri os fra det onde (“Deliver Us From Evil”) by Ole Bornedal and Flygtningen (“The Refugee”) by first-timer Kathrine Windfeld.
Olesen’s new film will start shooting this month for Zentropa Entertainment. The story centres on a female soldier (Trine Dyrholm) who, upon returning home after a mission abroad, befriends a Nigerian escort girl and convinces her to go back to Nigeria.
Windfeld’s feature debut, produced by Nimbus Film, will be adapted for the screen by Rasmus Heisterberg from journalist Olav Hergel’s best selling novel.
Bornedal will start shooting his new thriller in March. Two brothers fight over the fate of a Bosnian refugee in the Thura Film production.
