New season has European flavour

After last week’s three new releases, including French thriller and major European title The Key [+see also:
film profile] by Nicolas Nicloux, the new film season continues this week with nine releases.
Atonement [+see also:
film profile] by UK director Joe Wright (released by UIP on 20 screens) and the much acclaimed California Dreamin’ [+see also:
film profile] by Romanian director Cristian Nemescu (released by BFD on seven screens) mark a resurgence of European films with six new releases.
Two French titles are hitting screens: Marc Caro’s Dante 01 [+see also:
film profile], distributed by Les Films de L'Elysée, and Alfred Lot’s La Chambre des morts [+see also:
film profile] (“The Death Chamber”), released by Cinéart on 15 screens.
Jekino are launching the Swedish collective animated film Willy and the Wild Rabbit in three Flemish theatres.
Finally, this week’s national production is Dan Alexe’s humorous documentary Cabale à Kaboul (“Conspiracy in Kabul”), which recounts the fierce hatred felt towards Kabul by the last two remaining Afghan Jews.
The film, which was in official competition at the latest Montreal and at the Visions du Réel festivals, is distributed by IFD.
