BAFTA Rising Star nominees announced
Shia LeBeouf, Sienna Miller, Ellen Page, Sam Riley and Tang Wei are this year’s nominees for the Orange Rising Star Award.
The award celebrates a young actor or actress of any nationality who has demonstrated exceptional talent and ambition and who has already begun to capture the imagination of the British public as a film star in the making. Uniquely, this is the only award at the BAFTAs that is voted for by the public.
BAFTA Deputy Chairman Duncan Kenworthy said, “This significant Award shines a very bright spotlight on the young actors and actresses who are on the cusp of movie stardom and helps in the important task of bringing on the talented next generation of acting talent.”
The Award was launched in 2006. James McAvoy was the first winner and Eva Green the 2007 recipient.
