Trollhättan shines with Mammoth stars

by

Ten years after his directorial debut Fucking Åmål, star Swedish filmmaker Lukas Moodysson is back in Western Sweden’s Trollhättan studios with Michelle Williams and Gael Garcia Bernal, the glamorous cast of his first English language film, Mammoth.

The director, the four lead actors (including Marife Necesito and seven year-old Sophie Nyweide) and producer Lars Jönsson (Memfis Film) held a press conference last Wednesday at the local Saga cinema to promote the film.

“I love Trollhättan. It’s the best place in the world and my professional home,” said Moodysson.

Based on an original script by Moodysson, Mammoth tells the story of Tom (Garcia Bernal), a young IT golden boy who lives in New York with his wife (Williams), their daughter and a Filipino nanny. On a business trip to Thailand, Tom realizes he wants to change his life.

Filming in Thailand of the €7.5m film has now wrapped and the cast and crew are based at Film i Väst’s Trollhättan studios until the end of January. The shoot will next move to New York in February.

Sales are handled by Trust Film Sales.
