will screen in the Berlinale Panorama, the documentary Suddenly, Last Winter has also been chosen for the section.

Starting from an autobiographical fact (directors Gustav Hofer, a familiar face on ARTE, and Luca Ragazzi are also a couple in real life as well on the set), the film looks at homophobia in Italian society, through interviews with people on the street as well as prominent members of the country’s government.

According to Ragazzi, Suddenly “came about from the urgent need to reveal an often latent homophobia, which also involves the media, the Church and politics, as emerged in light of the proposed law [on domestic couples]”. It was produced by Hofer’s Hiq Productions (in association with the actress Jacqueline Lustig) and was edited by Desideria Rayner. The sound editor was Silvia Moraes.

Panorama will also feature Corazones de mujer (“Hearts of Women”) by Davide Sordella and Pablo Benedetti while the Forum section will include Nello La Marca’s La terramadre (“Mother Earth”).
