FESTIVALS Italy

RomeFilmFest to start October 22

by

RomeFilmFest president Goffredo Bettini announced that the festival’s third edition is changing its dates. Instead of beginning October 2, as was reported recently, this year it will run from October 22-31.

This change regards only the 2008 edition. From 2009, the festival will be held in mid-October. The problem came about from the "co-habitation" with the Academy of Santa Cecilia, which has now agreed to interrupt its concerts for the film event.

While Minister of Culture Francesco Rutelli is satisfied, the staff of the Turin Film Festival, directed by Nanni Moretti, is decidedly less so. Turin will now take place just 20 days after the Fest.

Other scheduling conflicts to arise from the change include the London Film Festival (October 17-November 1), the Viennale (October 17-29) and the Tokyo Film Festival (October 20-28).
