The art of winning eight Roberts

swept up at the Danish Film Academy’s annual Roberts ceremony held last Sunday evening in Copenhagen. The film won eight statuettes, including Best Film, Director, Screenplay (Bo H. Hansen) and the Audience Award.

Schønau Fog’s directorial debut, produced by Final Cut, also won Best Supporting Actor (Jesper Asholt) and Best Supporting Actress (Hanne Hedelund), Costume Design (Margrethe Rasmussen), and Music (Karsten Fundal).

The other favourite, The Island of Lost Souls [+see also:

by Nikolaj Arcel, turned five of its ten nominations into wins, picking up Best Children and Youth Film, Set Design (Niels Sejer), Make-Up (Kamilla Bjerglind), Special Effects (Hummer Højmark and Jeppe Nygaard Christensen), and Sound (Hans Christian Kock and Claus Lynge). The film was produced by Meta Louise Foldager for Zentropa.

left with two Roberts for the film’s DoP Dan Laustsen and editor Anders Villadsen.

Swedish actress Noomi Rapace, soon to appear in the screen adaptation of the best-selling novel Millennium, was awarded Best Actress for her dramatic part in Simon Staho’s Daisy Diamond [+see also:

The children’s film Karla’s Game received a Robert for Best Song for Elisabeth Gjerluff Nielsen, Milosevic on Trial by Michael Christoffersen won Best Feature Length Documentary, Paul Greengrass’ The Bourne Ultimatum Best US film and David Cronenberg’ Eastern Promises [+see also:

Best Foreign Film (non-US).

Lastly, Ole John, a longtime teacher at the National Film School of Denmark, was presented with an Honorary Robert.
