Four high profile titles screening at EFM

Four very different films representing the variety and quality of Estonia’s latest production output, are screening this week at the European Film Market, including award-winners Autumn Ball [+see also:

Veiko Õunpuu’s drama Autumn Ball, winner of the Horizons sidebar at Venice 2007 and a Grand Prix in Marrakesh last December, is introduced in Berlin by the film’s producer Katrin Kissa (Kuukulgur Film/Homeless Bob). The film had its first market screening yesterday and another one is scheduled for Tuesday, February 12.

The low-budget youth drama The Class directed by Ilmar Raag is sold by NonStop Sales. The film produced by Amrion/ETV won a Special Jury Prize and the Europa Cinemas Label Award in Karlovy Vary 2007.

Youth film Where Souls Go, the second feature by Rainer Sarnet (The Curse of the Werewolf, 2005), centres on two girls whose domestic life is falling apart. One of them starts looking for her own answers and ends up with members of a Gothic sect who promise they can help her. The Estonian/Austrian co-production between Exitfilm and Synchro Film is being represented in Berlin by produer Anneli Ahven.

by established filmmaker Peeter Simm tells the true story of world renowned opera singer Georg Ott. The co-production between Lege Artis/Allfilm in Estonia, CNF in Russia and MRP Matila Röhr in Finland was the seventh most popular film at the Estonian box office in 2007 with 50,000 admissions. The costume drama is being handled in Berlin by producer Ivo Felt (Allfilm).
