Return to Gorée honoured in Los Angeles
Selected in the Best Documentary Competition at the 16th Pan African Film & Arts Festival (held in Los Angeles from February 7-18), Return to Gorée picked up the Jury Prize.
This documentary by Swiss director Pierre-Yves Borgeaud (produced by CAB Productions and DreamPixies) follows the journey of famous Senegalese singer Youssou N’Dour as he traces the history of slavery from Dakar to New Orleans, passing through New York and Luxembourg.
Return to Gorée will screen at the end of the month at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) as part of the Best of the African Diaspora Film Festival, as well as in Austria and the Czech Republic.
The film is set for release in France (Hevadis Films) and the US (ArtMattan) at the beginning of April.
