Téchiné, Kahn and Amalric set to receive advances on receipts

by

Six feature film screenplays were selected by the first board for advances on receipts of the National Centre for Cinematography (CNC) at their first session in 2008.

The projects include André Téchiné’s La fille du RER (“The Girl on the RER”), a SBS Films production which will begin shooting in May.

Starring Catherine Deneuve and Emilie Dequenne, the film is inspired by a real-life event that took place in May 2004 when a young mother and mythomaniac claimed she had been the victim of an anti-semitic attack on public transport in the Parisian suburbs. She caused a media frenzy before it was discovered that she had fabricated the whole story.

Another film set to receive an advance on receipts is Les regrets, the eighth feature by Cédric Kahn (L’ennui, Roberto Succo, Red Lights) which will be produced by Maïa Cinéma and Les Films du Lendemain and will begin shooting at the end of April.

Mathieu Amalric’s Tournée (“Tour”) was also selected by the CNC. The project is currently the subject of advanced negotiations with a production company. This will be the fourth directorial feature by the actor (who recently won a Cesar award and is filming in Panama on the new James Bond film, Quantum of Solace) following Mange ta soupe (1997), Wimbledon Stage (2002) and Public Affairs (2004).

The CNC also chose Bas-fonds (“Lowest Depths”) by Isild Le Besco, the actress’ third directorial feature, following Half-Price and Charlie (produced by her production company Sangcho) ; as well as Bye Bye Blondie by novelist Virginie Despentes (production Master Movies) whose debut film Fuck Me caused a great deal of controversy in 2000.

Finally, an advance on receipts will go to Emmanuel Finkel’s documentary project (“Second Wind”, 13 Production).
