Lolas come round again
The arrival of spring also heralds the start of the LOLA German Film Awards, an initiative of the German Film Academy and the Culture and Media Ministry.
The nominees will be announced on the morning of March 28.
In April – as part of the LOLA Festival (sub-titled "We love cinema") – the titles selected in the categories of Best Film, Best Documentary and Best Youth Film will screen in around 12 major German cities, including Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne and Munich.
For the first time, a "LOLA Bus" will circulate in some of these cities with surprise guests who will come and present the films and discuss them with audiences.
This year, the LOLA Festival has an important new media partner, Tele5.
The LOLA Awards ceremony will be held on the evening of April 25, hosted by Barbara Schöneberger.
