The Top Kino cinema in Vienna is hosting the fifth edition of the Tricky Women Festival, devoted to animated films by women directors.
This event – which opened yesterday evening and lasts until Monday March 31 – will be held annually from now on.
A total of 56 films directed by women from all over the world have been selected and will screen in the five competitions. The wide-ranging themes include global warming, human relations and globalisation.
The awards ceremony will be held on Sunday evening.
Tricky Women aims to be a dynamic platform and puts the emphasis on young talent by presenting work by students from several film schools across the world.
This afternoon, a forum entitled Connecting Animation will enable audiences and film professionals to engage in discussion.
The festival also offers a panorama of Austrian cinema, a programme devoted to animation and Russian literature and a special programme.
