Centoautori sends open letter to future government
With the fall of the government last January, parliamentary proceedings stopped on the new film law. The only measures favouring the Italian film industry were those on tax credits and tax shelters, fortunately approved by the 2008 Budget Law.
Worried about the future of the industry, the "Centoautori" movement – which includes a group of representatives from the world of film, television and audiovisual art – sent the parliamentarians of the soon to be elected new legislature and ministers of the future government an open letter asking "that film and TV’s role of cultural enrichment be restored".
The letter was signed by over 1,000 artists and intellectuals working in the fields of film, TV, theatre and more generally culture and information. Centoautori ask for more signatories to the letter "not to divide but to unite directors, screenwriters, actors and technicians in film and television, beyond their political parties, around certain principles and problems in which most of the entertainment industry can recognise itself".
