, which was the eighth biggest box-office hit in Germany in 2006 (1,171,015 admissions), followed by Wild Chicks in Love (released in April 2007, over 1m admissions), producers Peter Zenk and Uschi Reich (who is one of the most sought-after German producers in the family comedy genre) have started work on the third instalment in this series of successful children’s films. Die Wilden Hühner und das Leben will start shooting in June.

The films are based on the best-selling novels of Cornelia Funke, who co-wrote the screenplay with Thomas Schmid, Reich and Naefe.

The action centres on the adventures and thrills of a joyful group of five young girls. They like Robbie Williams, Italian food, getting involved in social causes and they hate the "pygmies", a gang of tough boys.

In Die Wilden Hühner und das Leben, the girls go on a school trip, which obviously leads to passing romances.

The young members of the cast remain the same. Adult stars include Veronica Ferres, Benno Fürmann, Jessica Schwarz and Doris Schade.

This film is produced by Bavaria, in co-production once again with Constantin, who will release the film at the start of next year.
