Movimento: New adventures in distributing

There is a new distribution company on the Italian market: Movimento Film, founded by producer Mario Mazzarotto.

"The chronic difficulty in finding distribution in Italy, even for the best films that distinguished themselves at top international festivals, has compelled a group of filmmakers to throw themselves into a new adventure. In recent years in Italy there have been increasingly more directors who, out of necessity, become makeshift distributors in order to get their own films seen, often with better results than those who had more established companies behind them” reads the company’s press release. Movimento’s mission is to make the choice to involve producers and directors in the distribution of films more solid and continuous".

, the second film by Marco Simon Puccioni, produced by Mazzarotto and released last January.

Upcoming releases, which will involve arthouse cinemas and those independent distributors most sensitive to arthouse films, are Alexandra [+see also:

by Alexander Sokurov (in competition at Cannes 2007) and Woman’s Hearts by Kiff Kosoof (selected in the Panorama section of the 2008 Berlinale)
