AISGE and AIE agree to bury the hatchet
Putting an end to a dispute that had lasted several years, the presidents of two of Spain’s leading copyright management companies, Artistas Intérpretes, Sociedad de Gestión (AISGE) and Artistas Intérpretes o Ejecutantes, Sociedad de Gestión de España (AIE), made their peace as part of an agreement overseen by the Culture Minister César Antonio Molina.
This is a step towards “normalising relations” between the two companies, as stipulated in the document signed by both parties, which arises from the desire to bring to an end a situation that was only advantageous to those who violate intellectual property rights.
The two parties therefore agreed to clearly define each company’s field of activity, in order to avoid the overlapping that has occurred recurrently in recent years, and to recognise each other’s full autonomy in their respective areas.
In this atmosphere of reconciliation, the two companies laid the ground for future collaborations to improve the level of protection afforded to the different groups they represent. In the case of the AISGE, these include actors, dubbing artists, dancers and stage managers, whereas the AIE represents singers, musicians and orchestra conductors.
Lastly, AISGE and AIE agreed to "end all the judicial and administrative procedures" instigated by the disagreements that have hitherto marred their relations.
