Aristoteles Workshop deadline May 30

by

Preparations are well underway for the third edition of the Aristoteles Workshop. The deadline for the call for entries for applicants all around Central and Eastern Europe is May 30.

To be held this year from August 11-September 7 in and around Sibiu, Transylvania, the workshop will be split into four sessions. After general training on the technical equipment provided by Aristoteles, students will go into basic production aspects, scout their subjects, shoot, complete editing and sound design then present their feature documentaries and take part in a Q&A with their fellow students and tutors.

Aristoteles’ tutors are an impressive line-up of international experts, and include Iranian director Raffi Pits, General Director of Arte Jean Rozat, Danish editor Niels Pagh Andersen and US documentary filmmaker Jennifer Fox.

The ARTE-based workshop’s most successful result so far has been Adina Pintilie’s Don’t Get Me Wrong, which won the 2007 Doc Leipzig Festival, was nominated for Golden Leopard at Locarno and screened at the International Documentary Film Festival in Amsterdam.

Although the workshop is designed to help develop young generations of documentary filmmakers based primarily in Central and Eastern Europe, students from other regions of the continent are also welcome to apply. Applicants must work or study in the fields of directing, screenwriting, film production, cinematography or editing.
