Echoes of Home lauded in Italy
Winner of the Quartz for Best Documentary at the 2008 Swiss Film Awards, Stefan Schwietert’s Echoes of Home also won over the jury at the 56th Trento International Festival of Mountain, Exploration and Adventure Film (April 22-May 4), where it was awarded the Golden Gentian – City of Bolzano Prize.
This is the sixth award for this cinematic portrait of the unique vocal world of three Swiss folk singers. The title is currently showing in theatres in French-speaking Switzerland.
Swiss director Schwietert thus follows in the footsteps of his compatriots Jean-François Amiguet, who received a Golden Gentian at Trento in 2004 for his feature South of the Clouds, and Christian Frei, who won a Silver Gentian two years ago for his documentary The Giant Buddhas.
