Van Werveke ready for his Interview close-up

by

Famous film actors in Luxembourg are few and far between, but the 50-year-old screen veteran Thierry Van Werveke is certainly one of them. The Luxembourg audience will soon be able to get to know him better in the new documentary Interview from director Andy Bausch.

Luxembourg director Bausch has collaborated with Van Werveke numerous times, including on the 1988 cult feature Troublemaker, in which van Werveke made his feature debut as an actor after a long period of drug addiction and work in several short films, and the box-office hit Le club des chomeurs from 2001.

Van Werveke has also worked with directors such as Michael Haneke (Le temps du loup), Til Schweiger (Der Eisbär) and local director Pol Cruchten (Perl oder Pica).

The documentary will not only look at Van Werveke’s filmography, which includes over sixty film and TV credits, but also his musical career – his discography is a dozen titles long – and his theatre work.

The idea for a retrospective in the form of a documentary was prompted by a health scare for the actor. For Interview, Bausch will mix archive material with newly filmed interview footage.

The film is produced by Paul Thiltges for Paul Thiltges Distribution and is currently in post-production.
