There will be no Italian films in the upcoming Venice, Rome and Turin festivals if the government does not back down from abolishing the tax credit. In a joint press release, they declare themselves "united in their dismay over the government’s decision to eliminate the tax incentive measure for cinema, in incomprehensible contradiction with the stated desire to abandon the state-supported policies of the past in order to create a situation of new investments, new jobs, new films".

The entire Italian film industry is mobilised against what has been called "a devastating measure”. ANICA, AGIS and API are inviting everyone from the culture industry to join this initiative. "It must be clear to all,” concludes the press release, “that the government, not maintaining its commitments, has struck a fatal blow against Italian cinema at a time when it has fully proven its artistic and industrial vitality, internationally as well as domestically. Further actions will be decided upon forthwith".
