Shooting underway on Summertime Blues
As of yesterday, Bremen is hosting the shoot for Summertime Blues, the graduate film by Marie Reich (daughter of the famous children’s film producers Uschi Reich and Peter Zenk) for the Munich Film and Television School. The title is adapted from Julia Clarke’s eponymous novel.
Written by Friederike Köpf, Uschi Reich and Robin Getrost, the film is about growing up. The young, 15-year-old hero, Alex (François Göske), is upset about the separation of his parents. He has lost all his familiar reference points, but as the film unfolds, he gradually learns to understand love and reconcile himself to the situation.
The cast of Summertime Blues also includes Karoline Eichhorn (Vacation [+see also:
film profile], Du bist nicht allein [+see also:
film profile]), Christian Nickel, Maja Schöne (soon to be seen in Die Buddenbrooks), Alexander Beyer and Zoe Moore.
The film is lensed by DoP Egon Werdin (An American Werewolf in Paris and recent children’s title TKKG - Das Geheimnis um die rätselhafte Mind-Machine).
Summertime Blues is produced by Bavaria, Bremedia, Constantin, Solaris, Münchner Filmwerkstatt, and TV networks NDR and Arte, with backing from Nordmedia and FFF Bavaria, and on a national level from the FFA and DFFF. Universum Film will release the title domestically.
