The members have been chosen for the international jury presided over by Wim Wenders, of the official competition of the 65th Venice Film Festival (August 27-September 6), directed by Marco Müller.

They are: Russian screenwriter Juriy Arabov; Italian actress Valeria Golino, who won the Volpi Cup at just 20 years old; British visual artist Douglas Gordon; US filmmaker John Landis; filmmaker Lucrecia Martel, the most important female voice of New Argentinean Cinema; and Hong Kong director Johnnie To, one of the main protagonists of the festival in recent years.

The president of the international jury of Horizons, the section that for four years have been looking at the new tendencies of films between fiction and documentary, will be Belgian filmmaker and artist Chantal Akerman. The other jury members are French film critic Nicole Brenez, Italian actress-documentary filmmaker Barbara Cupisti, Spanish director Jose Luis Guerin and young Estonian director Veiko Õunpuu, last year’s Horizons winner with his debut feature, Autumn Ball [+see also:

Lastly, the president of the jury for Corto Cortissimo, the festival’s international short film competition programmed by Stefano Martina, will be Amos Poe, a cult director of independent US cinema.
