A notorious swindler arrives in Luxembourg
Filming on Swiss-German-Luxembourg co-production Der Fürsorger (“The Welfare Worker”) is scheduled to start on August 5 in the Grand Duchy. The film is the first theatrical feature of German-born TV director Lutz Konermann in years.
Written by Konermann and Felix Benesch, Der Fürsorger tells the true story of the rise and fall of notorious Swiss liar and swindler Hans-Peter Stalder.
In the late 1970s and the ‘80s, this “social worker” became rich by allowing over 200 people to use a bank account to transfer money from dubious origins. Over 11 million Swiss Francs (€6.75m) allowed Stalder a luxurious lifestyle that included two wives and many lovers.
Swiss actor of Dutch origins Roeland Wiesnekker (Eden, Breakout [+see also:
film profile]) will play Stalder. He will be joined by German actress Katharina Wackernagel (the upcoming Der Baader Meinhof Komplex), Swiss actress Johanna Bantzer (The Friend [+see also:

Filming will continue through the end of September on various locations in the Grand Duchy and Switzerland. The dramatic comedy with tragicomic touches should be ready by the end of the year.
