The European Commission has published results of the first call for projects under the title of Preparatory Action MEDIA International.

The EU is to make a financial contribution of close to €2m to 18 projects, involving partners from the world over: Canada, Latin America, India, China, South Korea, Japan, Morocco, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Turkey and Georgia.

Projects will relate to the joint training of professionals, the reciprocal promotion of films and co-operation between film networks. These could pave the way for a broader EU co-operation programme in the film sector, called MEDIA MUNDUS beginning 2011.
