Dijon Cinema Meetings announce first participants

Viviane Reding (European Commissioner for Information Society and Media), Christine Albanel (Minister for Culture and Communications), Xavier Couture (director of the contents division at the Orange group), Patrice Duhamel (director general of channels of the France Télévisions group), filmmaker Pascale Ferran, accompanied by members of the Club of 13, Jay Roth (national executive director of the Directors Guild of America) and Hungarian filmmaker Istvan Szabo (president of the European Federation of Audiovisual Directors) are some of the names that feature in the list of participants at the Dijon Cinema Meetings (October 9-12), organised by ARP (Civil Society of Authors-Directors-Producers) and which this year will be presided over by director Christophe Barratier.

On the line-up of the traditional not-to-be-missed event of French and European professionals feature an Analysis and perspectives of the European audiovisual, cinematographic and cultural policy (the granting of state subventions to cinema, extension of the MEDIA programme to 27 Member States, revision of the Television Without Borders directive and extension of online services, dialogue between telecommunication operators and cinema, charter of online cinema). The second panel will be devoted to an Analysis of the phases of the Club of 13: Refounding the system of support and regulation of the cinema sector in a changing environment (see news).

Saturday 10 October will open with the theme of The role of cinematographic creativity in the audiovisual reform in an environment transformed by the digital revolution (increasing presence of cable channels, arrival of “catch-up” television with Catch up TV, arrival of Orange on the fee-paying television market, growth in the VoD market).
