was picked today by ANICA to represent Italy in the race for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar nomination. The Academy will announce the five nominees on January 22 and the ceremony will be held February 22.

Based on the bestseller by Neapolitan journalist Roberto Saviano, the film was produced by Fandango, in collaboration with RAI Cinema and Sky. Gomorrah won the Grand Jury Prize at this year’s Cannes festival (see focus).
