The international jury presented the Silver Dove to Heddy Honigmann’s Oblivion (Holland/Germany). The title also scooped the Ecumenical Jury Award and the FIPRESCI Prize.

The Audience Award went to Aleksei Aleksejew’s KJFG No. 5 (Hungary).

The Golden Dove for Best Short Documentary Film (under 45 minutes long) was awarded to Marcin Koszalka’s Till It Hurts (Poland). Meanwhile, the German jury crowned Thomas Lauterbach’s Bastion of Sin Best German Documentary Film.

The international jury awarded the Golden Dove for Best Animated Film to French director Jérémy Clapin’s Skhizein, while the Silver Dove went to Kristian AndrewsRabbit Punch (UK). Tomer Eshed’s Our Wonderful Nature picked up Best German Animated Film.

This year’s festival once again enjoyed immense success among audiences, who were lively and eager to take part in discussions, which helped create a cordial atmosphere.

The final figures are not yet available, but DOK Leipzig director Claas Danielsen predicts a slight drop in admissions compared to last year’s edition, which marked the 50th anniversary of the event (31,000 admissions). However, the number of German and international professionals in attendance remained stable, with a total of 1,400 accredited professionals from 49 different countries (compared to 1,450 in 2007).

There were also long queues at the DOK Market Digital, which presented around 300 new documentaries from across the world. Other industry events – including the 4th International Co-production Meeting and the Discovery Campus Masterschool – were also successful.
