Warsaw hosts EAVE Producers Workshop
Around 50 participants selected from different European countries will take part in the annual EAVE Producers Workshop, which organises a series of three workshops aimed at producers (of narrative films, documentaries and television) who wish to develop their skills in European production and co-production and build up a professional network. From November 17-24, EAVE (European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs) are hosting the third session of the workshop in Warsaw.
The first two sessions of 2008 were held in Luxembourg and Drogheda (Ireland) where 51 participants from 27 different countries developed their 33 projects. The highlight of the year’s events, the Warsaw workshop aims to establish direct contacts and arrange individual meetings with over 50 renowned European professionals.
Special guests at Warsaw include representatives from Europe’s most prominent co-production markets (including Connecting Cottbus, the Holland Film Meeting, the Berlinale Co-Production Market, Belgrade Industry Meetings and Baltic Event).
The programme also includes workshops and individual meetings with experts from EAVE and guests such as Germany’s Thorsten Ritter (international sales), fellow-German Sibylle Kurz (pitching), the UK’s Laurence Kaye (music rights), Ireland’s Linda Beath (strategic planning for production companies), Alan Fountain (UK - career development) and Nikolaj Nikitin (Germany - festivals and strategies). Moreover, Roberto Olla – one of EAVE’s experts on legal matters – will present an analysis of distribution.
The Warsaw workshop is also a great opportunity for those involved in Polish film production. A dedicated panel will be led by Jacek Bromski (president of the Polish Filmmakers’ Association), Agnieszka Odorowicz (director of the Polish Film Institute), Maciej Karpinski (head of international relations at the Polish Filmmakers’ Association), Slawomir Jozwik (director of the Film Agency of Polish Television), Teresa Dworzecka (STI Film Studio) and Jaroslaw Szoda (Fabryka). Organisers have also planned special sessions for local professionals as part of a Mini-Eave workshop.
The EAVE Producers Workshop is funded by the Polish Film Institute, the Polish Filmmakers’ Association and Media Desk Poland. The EAVE programme is supported by the Media Programme, Film Fund Luxembourg, the Nordic Baltic Film Fund, the Vienna Film Fund, the Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung, MFG-Filmförderung Baden-Württemberg, Skillset, the Berlinale Co-Production Market and all the partners who have hosted the EAVE workshops since 1988.
