German Films changes shareholder structure, elects new board

At last Friday’s German Films shareholders assembly, a decision was reached to change the shareholder structure with a corresponding adaptation of the constitution. A new supervisory board was also elected.

The shares of the AG Neue Deutsche Spielfilmproduzenten (15%) and the Bundesverband Deutscher Fernsehproduzenten e.V. (10%) were transferred to the new shareholder Allianz Deutscher Produzenten – Film & Fernsehen e.V. (20%) and the existing shareholders AG Dok (+3%) and AG Kurzfilm (+2%).

Following the reorganisation of the shareholder structure, there were new elections for the six members of the supervisory board. All of the decisions were unanimous.

Alfred Huermer was confirmed as the chairman of the supervisory board. Huermer, a member of the Verband Deutscher Filmproduzenten e.V., has been the supervisory board chairman of German Films since January 1, 2003.

Michael Schmid-Ospach, chief executive of the Filmstiftung Nordrhein-Westfalen, has been newly voted to the supervisory board. Dr. Klaus Schaefer, chief executive of the FilmFernsehFonds Bayern, has stepped down from the supervisory board. The FilmFernsehFonds Bayern and the Filmstiftung Nordrhein-Westfalen are shareholders of German Films on behalf of the regional funds and take turns every two years to sit on the supervisory board according to a previous agreement.

Roman Paul, a member of Allianz Deutscher Produzenten – Film und Fernsehen e.V., was also newly voted on to the supervisory board.

The following people were voted on to the supervisory board again: Peter Dinges, board member of the FFA; Antonio Exacoustos as a representative of the Verband Deutscher Filmexporteure;and Ulrike Schauz, head of the film department at the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media (BKM).

Michael Weber, managing director of the sales company The Match Factory, has stepped down from his post on the supervisory board. The shareholders, the supervisory board and the management of German Films thanked Weber expressly for the constructive and committed collaboration in the past years.
