Universal and Cattleya sign distribution and co-production agreement

Universal Pictures has acquired a minority share of Cattleya and through its Focus Features International will co-produce and distribute titles from the Italian production company run by Riccardo Tozzi, Marco Chimenz and Giovanni Stabilini.

"This is the first real investment of a US major in an Italian company and is further proof of the particularly positive period that our cinema has been undergoing in recent years,” said Tozzi, also president of the Italian producers of ANICA.

The film first to be distributed by Universal will be Umberto Carteni’s Diverso da chi? (“Different From Whom?”), starring Luca Argentero and Claudia Gerini. In 2009, Universal and Cattleya will co-produce Luis Prieto’s Meno male che ci sei, featuring Gerini and Chiara Martegiani.
