film profile] by Benoît Delépine and Gustave Kervern received a Special Mention for its "originality" in the World Cinema Competition at the 25th Sundance Independent Film Festival.
Starring Belgian actors Yolande Moreau and Bouli Lanners, Louise-Michel was produced by Mathieu Kassovitz and Benoît Jaubert for MNP Entreprise, in co-production with Arte France Cinéma. The title also received backing from the National Film Centre (CNC), Canal +, Ciné Cinéma and the Picardy region.
Sold internationally by Funny Balloons, the film – launched domestically by Ad Vitam – has so far attracted 313,000 viewers after four weeks on release and is enjoying immense word-of-mouth success (-14% only in its fourth week).
