Clint Eastwood receives Palme d’Or

US filmmaker Clint Eastwood has become the second person to receive a Palme d’Or for Lifetime Achievement from the Cannes Film Festival, after Ingmar Bergman in 1997.

Presented in Paris by festival president Gilles Jacob and delegate general Thierry Frémaux, the award pays tribute to a director who has been selected five times in official competition on the Croisette, the first time in 1985 and the latest in 2008 with Changeling.
