La Sapienza University launches CineMonitor portal
The film world is a micro-cosmos of a few thousand people (producers, distributors, broadcasters) who rarely have the opportunity to communicate with the “real” film world – the spectators, who are above all young people.
Thus, the Cinema Observatory of the Communications Department of Rome’s La Sapienza University has launched CineMonitor, a multi-media portal that gathers together material, works and videos of students, teachers, filmmaker and young viewers, along with input from film-loving Internet users. The project aims to create a communications network among industry professionals and the many young people who revolve around it.
Created with a €100,000 contribution from the General Direction for Cinema, it is the first web 2.0 experiment on the part of an Italian university, open to social networking.
