An Iranian kaleidoscope

- Thierry Michel’s documentary about contemporary Iranian society 20 years after Khomeini is released in Brussels and Lièges

Thierry Michel’s latest documentary feature, Iran sous le voile des apparences (Iran beneath the veil) comes out today in the Belgian cities of Brussels and Lièges. Michel will also present this film at the Namur French-language film festival on 3 October. The film is a montage of interviews, eye witness reports and archive footage that reflect the aspirations of Iran’s troubled society twenty years after the Islamic Revolution, a society torn between religious fanaticism and a desire for modernity.
Michel, whom audiences will remember for his Mobuto roi di Zaïr also co-produced this film through his company Les Films de la Passarelle,the CBA, France’s Les Films d’Ici, RTBF, Arte/La Sept and RAI. Michel also received financial support from the French community in Belgium’s Film and Audiovisual Centre, Eurimages, Procirep, the CNC, the MEDIA Programme, SVT, YLE, DGCI and the Sundance Documentary Fund.
