‘Nuovo Cinema Austria’ in Rome
- 11 recent features and industry meetings for closer collaboration between Austria and Italy, October 14-17
Austria will present eleven of the most significant films of the last two years in a four-day review at the Nuovo Olimpia cinema in Rome from 14-17 October.
Organised amongst others by the Austrian Culture Forum of Rome, the Italian Foreign Ministry, the Austrian Embassy and other leading associations, the programme includes Michael Haneke’s Cannes Grand Prix-winning The Pianist and Wolfgang Murnberger’s comedy entitled Komm, süsser Tod. All films will be screened in Austrian with Italian subtitles, and the inaugural film is newcomer Andrea Maria Dusl’s Blue Moon, first acclaimed in Locarno 2002.
“Nuovo Cinema Austria” (New Austrian Cinema) is also a great opportunity for Italian and Austrian film industry operators to meet and lay down the bases for closer collaboration and more co-production. To that end 15 October has been dedicated to industry meetings with the strong Austrian delegation that includes representatives from leading production companies like Wega, Lotus, Allegro, Prisma and Dor, Austria’s Union of Audiovisual and Film Industry, the Vienna Film Fund, the Austrian Film Commission, the Austrian Institute, Cine Carinthia, Cine Tyrol and Location Austria.
