French film icon, Alain Delon came to MIPCOM, (International Film & Audio Fair) in Cannes to anounce his forthcoming projects. The French icon is to star in two telefilms produced by French state broadcaster France 2.
Frank Riva a three-part 100-minute detective story, is scheduled to go into production in February 2003, is budgeted at over Euros10 million, and will be aired at the end of next year.
Le Lion is based on the novel by Joseph Kessel and will see Delon starring opposite his 11-year-old daughter, Anouchka.
Following the success of last year’s TV film, Fabio Montale (with an average audience of 10 million viewers tuning in for each episode) Delon has grown to like the TV medium although he admitted that he misses cinema and said that he was waiting for a phone call from his favourite directors: Besson, Spielberg, Polanski, John Woo, Almodovar and Blie.
