- Moma is hosting a review of fifteen new German films that include four directorial debuts from 8-17 November 2002

German Cinema continues its travelling abroad. The MOMA (Museum of Modern Art) of New York presents in the context of the event Kino 2002: New German Films a sample of modern German cinematographic production.
Fifteen feature films were selected including Caroline Link’s award winning Nirgendwo in Afrika (Nowhere in Africa), based on Stefanie Zweig’s autobiography about her childhood in the Black Continent. Other titles being showcased are Die Manns – Ein Jahrhundertroman by Heinrich Broeler, about writers Thomas and Heinrich Mann, Andreas Dressen’s Halbe Treppe, Thomas Schadt’s Berlin Sinfonie einer Grosstadt and last year’s hit, Der Schuh des Manitu (Manitu’s Shoe) by Michael “Bully” Herbig.
Four directorial debuts by Ulrich Köhler, Maria Speth, Sven Taddicken and Iain Dilthey will also be screened and this event was organised in association with Export Union of the German Cinema.
