Classics for young audiences
- The 1st edition of this project to create awareness about our European film heritage, 15-24 November
Denmark’s younger generation is being given a unique opportunity to see some of the best European films ever produced in a ten-day nationwide review that is scheduled to run from 15-24 November. The event was organised as part of an innovative new EU project called Cinedays, in collaboration with the Danish Film Institute and state broadcaster DR2.
It is hoped that this event contributes to young Danes’ appreciation of their film heritage, as well as being a welcome change from their usual fare of American blockbusters. The films selected for this first edition represent the “past, present and future” of Europe and range from Fritz Lang’s unforgettable 1927 classic, Metropolis right up to the present day with Lukas Moodysson’s 1998 Fucking Amal.
DR2 is also planning to air numerous European classics over this ten-day period, including Federico Fellini’s La Dolce Vita where one of Sweden’s most famous actresses, Anita Ekberg takes her memorable walk in Rome’s Trevi Fountain.
