Paris: Art&Essai tickets cost Euros3

by

- The 3rd edition of “Paris, the capital of Art&Essai Cinema” gets underway on Wednesday 16 October

For the week starting on 16 October, Parisian filmgoers will pay just Euros3 to see a film at any one of the 76 Art&Essai circuit cinemas situated in the French capital. Organised by the Town Hall of Paris and by the French art and arthouse film association, Afcae, this popular event promises to attract even more visitors than the previous two editions: 90.712 tickets were sold in 2000 and 97,000 in 2001.
This year’s promotional campaign was lead by actress and singer Vanessa Paradis who featured in the filmed ad and the programme includes numerous special events, as well as several Italian films from the recent Annecy Italian film festival. “Art&Essai” will hold a review of Czech films, a retrospective of the work of Fernando Arrabal, and will screen a selection of socially-themed films by Pier Paolo Pasolini, Ken Loach, Robert Guédiguian, amongst others. In celebration of the silver anniversary of the “Camera d’Or”, the film that won this important award at this year’s Cannes film festival, Bord de mer by Julie Lopez-Curval will have its French premiere.
A perfect 7-day-period for Parisian fans of arthouse and auteur-driven films.
