New execs at Svensk Filmindustri & Nordisk Film
- Companies move to beef up and consolidate their positions in the Scandinavian market, with more international productions slated too.
Two Scandinavian companies announced their intention to gain a bigger share of the region’s film market. Sweden’s Svensk Filmindustri has made changes that will enable it to take on more international projects, and to that end, announced they had hired a new creative director, Johan Mardell. Formerly with SVT (Sweden’s public service television) Mardell’s new responsibilities include the supervision of feature film and television drama production.
Denmark’s Nordisk Film also recently announced restructuring plans that include merging its production, distribution and exhibition activities, and moving two of its most experienced executives to new positions. H.P. Lundh is to become Nordisk Film’s new general manager for rights and acquisitions in Sweden, with special responsibility for strengthening Nordisk’s market position, while Scandinavian film industry veteran Peter Philipsen was appointed general manager of Nordisk Film’s Theatrical Distribution arm.
