Spain’s Secretary of State for Culture, Luis Alberto de Cuenca denied rumours that the Spanish government was about to cut state grants to the film industry. De Cuenca addressed this issue after the news of a potential 30 per cent cut to the Film Protection Fund was announced, causing a wave of controversy. “For 2002 the Fund received the equivalent of Euros5.263 million, a number that rose to Euros6.764 million following a subsequent unexpected reintegration. We hope that in 2003 the Fund can count on the same integration.”
