Media Days Munich 2002
- A painstaking analysis of the financial, practical and legislative aspects of German film and audiovisual production
This year’s Media Days Munich (16 –18 October 2002), jointly organised by the Bavaria Film Fund, include five events dealing with various issues of interest to the film industry.
The first will see film producers, tax and law experts discuss and share their practical experience of different forms of financing, with special emphasis on each expert’s specialist sector. A second panel will discuss the implementation of the German federal law for film promotion. This law is scheduled for revision in 2003 in order to bring it in line with EU directives. A third panel will look at the cultural and economic merits of circulating German films abroad and will try to develop new concepts to improve this. The programme also includes a debate about the need for reform to the copyright law in order to give producers new incentives, and contribute to the development of a healthy production industry, taking into account the difficulties this sector is currently experiencing. This event was organised in collaboration with the German TV producers’ association.
