Two German films at competition in Valladolid
- Spanish event is also an important gateway to the Latin American market
Two German films are in competition at the 47th Valladolid International Film Festival in Spain – 25 October–2 November, 2002: Halbe Treppe by Andreas Dresen and Nowhere in Africa by Caroline Link that recently won an award at the Women’s Festival in Bordeaux.
3 German productions and co-productions were selected for the sidebar 'Time of History' section. They are Starbuck–Holger Meins by Gerd Konradt that will also be screened concurrently at the Vienna Film Festival; 80000 SHOTS a 53-minute time-lapse film by Manfred Walther, and Vom Hirschkaefer Zum Hakenkreuz by Madeleine Dewald and Oliver Lammert that was premiered at Rotterdam. This section also includes a documentary entitled Marlene Dietrich–Her Own Song by David Riva (Germany/France).
Vallodolid traditionally encourages the work of young film directors and is an opportunity for meeting independent producers and distributors in Spain who also operate in the Latin American market.
